Product of the Week

Hope everyone had a good week last week... I know some of you may have been lost without your weekly dose of Clarisky.   I took the week off to do some serious creative re-vamping and pump some fierce volume into my plans for 2012.

Not only was I busy in my creative cave, the first of my girlfriends had her baby this week, and we welcomed a beautiful new baby boy into the world...... he also gave me the inspiration for the Product of the Week below.

I also had to say goodbye to what I called "my baby" my beloved, and always fashionable car, Gabby the Cabby. So sad to see her go but it was time..... well maybe more than time... she had a solid 22 years.

Now for the Product of the Week or in this case product"s".

As I said above, this week's Product of the Week was inspired by new baby Colton...

***WARNING*** the following products may be a little too Claris-qué for the faint at heart.....

So it all started while we were watching baby Colton get his diaper changed, and I thought to myself how unfashionable it would be to have to wear baby urine as an accessory after a diaper changing incident gone wrong.  Evidently one of my girlfriends was also thinking the same thing as she told us all about the invention called the Pee-Pee Teepee. Basically it is a little birthday hat-esqué cone that can be placed over baby privates to prevent unfortunate projectile pee incidents

photo: Baby-R-Us

and of course they come in all the cutest baby colors and prints because what mommy wants her baby's privates to be unfashionable during a diaper change.....he he..

                                                                                               photo: Baby-R-Us

Anyways the Pee Pee Teepee would be a sufficient Clarisky Product of the Week if I thought this is what my would satisfy my readers, but I know you are looking for more.  So as I was learning all about these Pee-Pee Tepees I got to thinking (I don't know why) but I bet someone crazy out there has invented an adult version of this, and low and behold I found............

The Va j-j Visor.

That's right it's a visor for your Va j-j.  FINALLY!  ...right?........no?

No it does not have the same function as the Pee-Pee Teepee, so why do you need a visor for your Va j-j ?  Well their website helps to answer that very question.....
"The Va j-j Visor will help protect all of those tender and sensitive parts that you don't want exposed during various methods of hair removal.  Brazilian and bikini waxing, depilatories and shaving, hair coloring, tanning or spa treatments.  It can also be used as a hygienic shield while trying on swimwear or intimate apparel and during body piercings and tattooing."
If you are looking for more on the mechanics and ergonomics of this invention I suggest you take a look at their website.  They have a helpful instructions page which should be only looked at in the comfort of your home (i.e. not at work.)

Hope I helped to protect some very important "areas" and perhaps keep them looking more...fashionable?  At the very least I'll settle for putting a smile on your face for the start of your work week.

love love.. Clarissa

Piece of the Week - Animal Zest Vest

For this week's Clarisky Piece of the Week I decided to channel my inner cowgirl on a safari... ya I know unconventional but you'll understand when you take a look below at the

Animal Zest Vest

As you know I love me some animal print... safari animals in particular, and after watching some season 3 Gossip Girl with Blake Lively sporting different vests every scene, I got the inspiration for this feisty number.  Also I found a lovely animal printed nightgown at Value Village that was looking so lonely on the racks of discarded clothes ...we'll call it vintage .... and it was just calling my name, so I had to give it a home on the inside of this vest.

Paired with my new Ted Baker knee high tan boots that I got in Ireland, I am all ready for my African Safari! .. now where to find one of those hats... :)

Hope you like!

See you Sunday for the Product of the Week.... if you got anything you think is worth a look let me know... It's looking like I may have to go into my product reserve... and let me just tell you they get a little crazy....

Product of the Week

Today's Product of the Week is a result of my first special request...

Clarisky Business,

I got some kick-ass lip colours and stains for Christmas, but my lips are so flaky and dry from this cold weather they just look like...poop when I put them on my lips.  Please help! I need a lip scrub of some sort, do you know of where I could get a good one?

AW

Well AW I do know of one off the top of my head that works great, thanks to my mom's makeup drawer, but I also did a little bit of research for ya......

The one that came to my mind straight away was the Satin Lips Lip Mask from Mary Kay. I steal a dab of it once a month from my mom.

marykay.ca

"Satin Lips Mask contains miniature buffing beads that gently exfoliate dead surface skin cells that cause lips to appear dull and lifeless."

This product is $15 and works very well. If you don't know a Mary Kay consultant you can also buy it online at marykay.ca.

However, if you want to avoid being a Mary Kay consultant's new best best friend and a million emails a day you can try

Fresh Brown Sugar Lip Polish at Sephora

sephora.com
"This unique formula is enriched with real brown sugar crystals to gently buff away dry flakes."

I tried a little bit and it seemed to work well, you don't need any water or anything you can just rub it on your lips, and it is made mostly of brown sugar which is pretty sweet! heh heh.  This product is $22.50 and literally looks like a bit of brown sugar and water.....

which led me to think why not make my own lip scrub!

I liked the idea of using sugar as the course granulars and saw a recipe that used sugar and water... boring!  So I decided to resort to my secret beauty product that is the answer to all my beauty dilemmas... Coconut Oil.  I found a recipe that used coconut oil and sea salt but I thought that the salt would just dry out my lips so instead I created this recipe....... get ready it's crazy...

1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil
1 teaspoon of brown sugar.

whew!

Mix it all together and apply it in a circular motion immediately, or put it in the fridge to harden a bit.  Coconut Oil will have more of a solid form at room temperature and will turn into a liquid as you cook with it, or if you leave it out in a warm room. It has amazing moisturizing properties and is super good for you.  I bought this small jar at Home Sense for $8 but I have also seen it at Superstore and health food stores.
Once you take it out of the fridge it will be quite solid. Take a chunk and smooth it over your lips, it will warm up and dissolve on your lips.. and it tastes amazing!!!!

So there you AW  three options for silky smooth lips. I personally like my creation cuz it tastes great, is oh naturale, and super easy to make.

Now your smoochers are ready for some Violent Lips !!

Clarisky Piece of the Week

The Piece of the Week today is an oldie but a goody!  It is one of the first pieces I ever made, and has definitely had the most compliments.

The most worn, dear to my heart, and the beginning of Clarisky Business........

The "Oh so Pleat" skirt

I love this skirt so much, but only recently realized the dark history behind my love of the pleat........

My high school days....ugh!

Somehow I am sporting the pleats again, even though I burned my uniform the day I graduated, and vowed never to eat and sleep pleats again!

I guess this skirt is just too pleat sweet to pass up!! heh heh.

hope you enjoyed those embarrassing goodies...Stay fashionable Vancouver!  See you soon.

Product of the Week

Although my hunt for a blow your mind Product of the Week amongst the rolling green fields and pots of gold abroad didn't quite turn out as planned, I did acquire an interesting piece from someone special during my travels.

I am not one to ask for anything specific for Christmas, I much prefer to have a sincere disgusted face when I open gifts from the grandparents be surprised,  but I did give instructions to one who was a little stumped on what to get me.
 My instructions were as follows:

I want a giant scarf.... I mean GIANT!!"
My instructions were also accompanied by this picture:

I was told I was not allowed to have a scarf of this nature, because my peanut head would get lost among the sea of knit.  I said that I would settle for something similar.

To my delight I was surprised with this strange sweater/scarf from ASOS

photo from asos.com

As you can probably tell  by now I'm all about the weird and wonderful, and this is just one of those things! It is perfect for those medium winter days when you want to wear that cute short sleeved top, but would like to prevent the blood from freezing in your arms.

I wore this scarf pretty much every day in the old country.  P.S. I now know that Old Country is synonymous with "no heat anywhere"

I also love that it doubles as a more conventional scarf for the not so daring!

Hope you enjoyed the sweater scarf bonanza.  Join me Wednesday for a new Clarisky Piece of the Week.

Clarisky Piece of the Week

I know I know I'm a couple days late with my Clarisky Piece of the Week post I apologize!!.. I was in transit from Ireland and then had some technical difficulties, but I'm back in action with the post you have all been waiting for!

This dress was my New Years Eve creation and is definitely the most elegant of my pieces...

The Sheer Delight

The sheer maxi skirt was inspired by one of the outfits I saw at the Vancouver Fashion Showcase seen here.  The translucency puts the risky in Clarisky and shows just enough leg to keep the outfit looking sexy but still elegant. There is a mini second layer of the shear black fabric to keep all the lady goods hidden ;)
The form fitting bodysuit shows off the right amount of curves and the fabric adds just a touch of sparkle (tough to see in photo).  The back, another clarisky signature design, is a new favourite, strappy and sleek!

I'd love to hear what you think... are you daring enough to sport the sheer maxi?  Pin It

Product of the Week

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I hope everyone had a fashion knock-out evening last night, dressed in all the finest sparkle.  I would love to see some new years outfits, post them here on my facebook page.  Can't wait to show you mine on Wednesday for the Clarisky Piece of the Week.

My time in Ireland is coming to an end and I promised to show you a kick ass Product of the Week from Ireland.  Unfortunately I haven't yet found the amazing blow-your-mind product that I was hoping, but yesterday I found a close second.

The girls in Ireland take their self tanning seriously.  For a country that is seriously cold and windy in the winter, there are copious amounts of orange bronzed faces walking around Dublin.  Not to say that there aren't a number of these synthetic sun lovers strutting the streets of Vancouver, so for those I bring you this product to keep your bed sheets fresh and so clean clean.

Introducing the Fake Tan Bag...

It is a breathable cotton sleeping bag that you sleep in after you have applied your self tanning lotion.

Brilliant right?  Well for those who maybe don't share the same feelings, I'll keep my eyes peeled for something even more kick-ass.  I do have to say that the shopping here is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

I wish everyone a very happy and fashionable 2012.

See you Wednesday.
